Just a reminder of how important it is to ask doctors plenty of questions. The US government says in a 'fact sheet' on HIV meds that
Twenty-one anti-HIV medications have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of HIV. These medications must be given in combination, and all of the drugs may cause negative side effects. Such side effects range from mild to life-threatening.
- Hepatotoxicity
- Hyperglycemia
- Hyperlipidemia
- Lactic Acidosis
- Lipodystrophy
- Osteonecrosis, Osteoporosis, Osteopenia
- Skin Rash
The fact sheet appears to be the latest.
In other news, the FDA has issued new warnings about Invirase and Norvir, drugs made by Roche and Abbot, potentially wreaking havoc on heart rythms whentaken together.
Another memo from the FDA on Invirase seems to indicate damage to the heart from Invirase under any circumstance.
