In Loving Memory

It has been almost a year since publication of an in depth report about how Joyce Ann Hafford — 34 years old, healthy and pregnant with her second child — died shortly after being given highly toxic AIDS drugs in an NIH sponsored clinical trial. (Harper's Magazine article; A letter to Harper’s Magazine from Rubbie King, Joyce Ann's sister; Is the death of one person relevant?)

What has happened since is something I think every single American citizen would oppose, and seek to change, if they knew of it. We would all like to think this kind of thing cannot happen in America.

To this day, three and a half years after her death, Joyce Ann Hafford's family
has been left without any redress or response whatsoever from those who caused it.

The wrongful death lawsuit that was filed by the family has gone unanswered and has been all but dropped. There have been no funds available for her attorney to fight this case.

Let's see if we, together, can help this family. Using PayPal, please make a donation if you can.

Whatever amount we raise will be sent directly to the family for Christmas as a sign of our love and support; after that, we will work to raise more, enough for the dormant lawsuit to be resumed.

Let’s remind ourselves that we each have much more influence than we sometimes imagine. May this be a year of hope, light, and renewal.
